{"id":9282,"date":"2023-02-28T18:05:59","date_gmt":"2023-02-28T18:05:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gustavopineda.com\/?p=9282"},"modified":"2023-02-28T18:05:59","modified_gmt":"2023-02-28T18:05:59","slug":"reddit-comment-search-how-to","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gustavopineda.com\/?p=9282","title":{"rendered":"Reddit announces ability to search comments within a post"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><imgsrc=\"\" alt=\"The buttons of Reddit, Spotify, Podcasts, WhatsApp and Music on the screen of an iPhone\"><\/p>\n<p>Reddit just made it a whole lot easier for users to search comments on posts.<\/p>\n<p>A few months ago, <u>Reddit<\/u> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/reddit\/comments\/wg6oqb\/whats_up_with_reddit_search_episode_vii_the\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>announced the ability for users to search comments across Reddit<\/u><\/a> on all platforms \u2014 but it was clunky. Users were only to search comments across the platform by using the comments tab in the search bar; they still couldn&#8217;t search comments within a post. That process has gotten an upgrade. On Monday, Reddit announced that users can now search comments within posts on desktop, iOS, and Android.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p>\n    <a class=\"text-gray-600\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Reddit\/status\/1630258262242127873\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n        Tweet may have been deleted<br \/>\n        <span class=\"sr-only\">(opens in a new tab)<\/span><br \/>\n    <\/a>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;You don\u2019t have to &#8216;cmd-f&#8217; on the post page anymore and you can search comment threads without expanding them,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/reddit\/comments\/11dgwzy\/whats_up_with_reddit_search_episode_viii_the_last\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>one of the site\u2019s mods, u\/anon-axoltl, wrote in a post<\/u><\/a>. Using &#8220;cmd-f&#8221; or &#8220;ctrl-f&#8221; doesn&#8217;t work particularly well if a post has a large number of comments if those comments are collapsed. &#8220;No more long scrolling sessions \u2014 quickly get to the parts of the conversation you\u2019re looking for and jump in where you want.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It works pretty much exactly how you&#8217;d think it would. On your computer, next to the &#8220;Sort By&#8221; drop down below the comment box, you&#8217;ll see the search bar that reads &#8220;Search comments.&#8221; Mobile is a bit different: When you&#8217;re on a post, click the magnifying glass icon in the top bar and search there.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reddit just made it a whole lot easier for users to search comments on posts.
