Uber robot deliveries via Serve increased by over 30 percent month-over-month, with over 200 participating restaurants in Los Angeles. <\/p>\n<p>Dr. Ali Kashani, co-founder and\u00a0CEO of Serve Robotics, said they are &#8220;thrilled&#8221; to be expanding their partnership with Uber. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This partnership is a major step towards mass commercialization of\u00a0robotics for autonomous delivery, and it is a testament to the success of our partnership,&#8221; said Dr. Kashani in a statement. &#8220;We are\u00a0excited to continue our work with Uber to bring this innovative technology to more cities across\u00a0the country.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Serve says its sidewalk robots are capable of Level 4 autonomy, which is described by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sae.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Society of Automobile Engineers<\/a> as being able to handle all aspects of driving without human intervention, in certain conditions. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/05\/30\/serve-robotics-to-deploy-up-to-2000-sidewalk-delivery-bots-on-uber-eats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tech Crunch<\/a>, the robots can &#8220;reroute&#8221; if they encounter obstruction, and can also avoid collision with drivers.<\/p>\n<p>The startup has also piloted programs with Walmart in Arkansas and Pizza Hut in Vancouver. Since 2021, Serve has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cstoredive.com\/news\/7-eleven-delivery-robots-serve-robotics\/641470\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">worked with 7-Eleven<\/a> on robotic sidewalk delivery in LA, too. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Your next meal could be hand-delivered by a robot.
