Jennifer Lawrence is finally dipping her toes into a proper comedy, and it’s an absolute delight.
No Hard Feelings follows Maddie (Lawrence), a struggling young woman trying to make a buck and keep her childhood home. On the brink of desperation, she serendipitously finds a strange job listing from a wealthy couple asking someone to “date” their 19-year-old son before he goes to college. Maddie’s attempts to seduce the introverted and incredibly reluctant Percy (Andrew Feldman) result in all manner of hilarious cringe, from an attempted kidnapping to that true rite of passage into adulthood, trying your first Long Island iced tea.
No Hard Feelings is directed by Gene Stupnitsky, who’s known for his work on The Office, Hello Ladies, and Bad Teacher, as well as writing and directing the 2019 comedy Good Boys. The comedy also stars Laura Benanti, Natalie Morales, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Matthew Broderick.
The film hits theaters on June 23.
