Kevin Conroy, the iconic voice of Batman, has died at age 66

Kevin Conroy, the definitive voice of Batman for over 30 years, has died at the age of 66.

The beloved actor first donned the mantle of Caped Crusader in 1992 with the debut of Batman: The Animated Series, and went on to voice Batman for a dizzying array of DC television shows, films, and award-winning video games (including fan favorites like Arkham Knight and Arkham City). Conroy’s remarkable talent has left a handprint on the hearts of many, with fans and colleagues alike sharing touching tributes for the man behind the mask.

Mark Hamill, who famously voiced the Joker opposite Conroy’s Batman, shared the following moving statement: “Kevin was perfection. He was one of my favorite people on the planet, and I loved him like a brother. He truly cared for the people around him —his decency shone through everything he did. Every time I saw him or spoke with him, my spirits were elevated.”

Casting and dialogue director Andrea Romano told The Hollywood Reporter, “Kevin was far more than an actor whom I had the pleasure of casting and directing – he was a dear friend for 30+ years whose kindness and generous spirit knew no boundaries. Kevin’s warm heart, delightfully deep laugh, and pure love of life will be with me forever.”

Tributes from colleagues continued with Diane Pershing, who voiced Poison Ivy alongside Conroy in Batman: The Animated Series, sharing, “He will be sorely missed not just by the cast of the series, but by his legion of fans all over the world.”

Fans and friends of Conroy are currently sharing tributes for the icon on social media, who will always be missed but whose work will not be forgotten.
