If you can get through the trailer for Of An Age without misting up, well done you.
The film is the latest from Macedonian Australian director Goran Stolevski, whose brutal, brilliant, witchy movie You Won’t Be Alone was one of the best horror films of 2022. Suffice to say, his next endeavour is a major pivot, writing, directing, and editing a whirlwind gay romance drama and coming-of-age tale.
Set in one steamy summer in 1997, Of An Age follows 17-year-old Serbian-born Australian amateur ballroom dancer Nikola (Barracuda star Elias Anton). His friend and dance partner Ebony (Hattie Hook) introduces her brother Adam (Thom Green), and the pair develop a truly intense romance that neither of them saw coming.
The film premiered as the opener for the Melbourne International Film Festival in August, and will hit limited cinemas Feb. 10, then nationally in Australia on February 17. International dates are yet to be announced.
