John Oliver destroying 12 creepy dolls in a talking garbage can is peak viewing

Last Week Tonight may be on hiatus until 2023, but John Oliver is the gift that keeps giving.

In the web exclusive video above, Oliver describes the “sexy trash cans” that the Swedish city of Malmö introduced to encourage people to dispose of their waste, before explaining that the city gave them permission to reprogram said cans to say exactly what they wanted.

The reason? Oliver was keen to destroy the 12 creepy dolls the show acquired earlier in the year for a different web exclusive, and he thought feeding them to the talking trash cans – or, specifically, recruiting The Cardigans lead singer and Malmö resident Nina Persson to destroy the dolls for them – was the perfect way to do it.

It’s difficult to argue with him.
