‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ trailer promises ancient secrets and a crapload of action

The Maximals are coming, folks, along with an equally colossal Hollywood cast.

Directed by Creed II‘s Steven Caple Jr. with a story by Obi-Wan Kenobi showrunner Joby Harold, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts promises all the action you’d expect from the Autobots, but now with new animalian allies as we saw in the first, and now second trailer above.

Descendants of the Autobots, there’s more than meets the eye with the Maximals, ancient beings who transform into mechanical animals (hence the film’s title). They’ll join forces with your shapeshifting vehicular pals to save the world — presumably from their longtime canon enemies, the Predacons.

But there’s always a few humans in there, with Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback leading the mega cast alongside Michelle Yeoh, Peter Dinklage, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Pete Davidson, Luna Lauren Velez, Dean Scott Vazquez, Tobe Nwigwe, Peter Cullen, Ron Perlman, Liza Koshy, John DiMaggio, David Sobolov, Cristo Fernández, and Tongayi Chirisa.

Where does this film sit in the Transformers cinema universe? Basically, it’s sequel to 2018’s Bumblebee but also a reboot of the Transformers franchise, so it remains to be seen whether or not you need to have seen them all.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts arrives in theatres June 9, 2023.
