HBO’s masterful dark comedy Barry is back for one last season — and it’s going to be brutal. Season 4 kicked off on April 16 with two episodes right off the bat.
The final chapter of the award-winning series picks up with Barry in jail, as seen in the trailer. And without giving any spoilers, Mashable entertainment reporter Belen Edwards promises the last installment offers “a relentless set of episodes that push Barry and everyone around him to their limits.”
Whether you’re a die-hard Bill Hader fan and have watched every season or you’re just getting hip to the deliciously dark dramedy, here’s everything you need to know to watch Barry Season 4 online — and where you can stream previous episodes.
How many episodes are in Barry Season 4?
Season 4 will consist of just eight episodes total, released weekly after the initial two-episode premiere on April 16. The series finale is slated to air on May 28, 2023.
Is Barry on Netflix or Amazon Prime?
While Netflix has plenty of excellent original series, Barry is an HBO Original. That means it’s only available to watch on the premium HBO network for cable subscribers or its streaming counterpart, HBO Max (soon to be known as simply, ‘Max’). Fortunately, HBO offers plenty of ways to subscribe, including adding it to an existing Amazon Prime Video subscription or Hulu subscription (more on that below).
Is HBO free with Amazon Prime?
HBO Max can be added to an existing Amazon Prime Video subscription for $15.99 per month (the same price it costs to subscribe to ad-free HBO Max separately). There is some good news, though. Amazon Prime Video offers a free seven-day trial of the service, while HBO Max does not offer a trial on its own. In other words, if you’re looking to watch Barry Season 4 for free, this might be your best bet.
Is HBO included with Hulu?
Similar to the Amazon Prime Video and HBO deal, Hulu subscribers can add HBO Max to their accounts for $14.99 per month. While there’s no free trial offered at the time of writing, you will save $1 per month by choosing to subscribe via the Hulu add-on. You can easily subscribe for a month and cancel your subscription when the Barry season ends on May 28.
How can I get HBO for free?
Since HBO is a premium streaming service, getting it for free isn’t easy — but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. There are a couple of ways to secure a free subscription if you have a specific mobile plan. If not, you’ll have to utilize a free trial and plan strategically around the season finale on May 28. Like I said, it’s possible, but a little complicated. Nevertheless, here are a few different ways you can watch Barry on HBO for free.
-
Wait until May 28 (the season finale) to sign up for the HBO Max add-on via Amazon Prime. With your seven-day trial, you can binge-watch the entire season (8 episodes) for free. Just be sure to cancel before the week’s up or you’ll be charged $15.99.
-
Are you an AT&T customer? Eligible unlimited plans can get HBO Max at no extra charge. Just download the HBO Max app and sign in through your TV or mobile provider. New customers can also sign up for one of the eligible plans above to stream Barry on HBO Max free.
-
Cricket Wireless customers on the $60/month unlimited plan get HBO Max (ad-supported) included for free. Existing Cricket customers can easily switch their plan to get HBO Max included. Just download the HBO Max app and choose “sign in with provider” to use your Cricket login credentials.
Other ways to watch Barry Season 4
While it may not be free, you can also sign up for an HBO Max subscription through HBO itself. The most affordable option (and the best bang for your buck) is to watch with ads and sign up for an annual subscription rather than monthly. This will save you 16% and you won’t have to worry about monthly fees for an entire year. Plus, you can watch every season of Barry, then move on to the other HBO Max originals that we highly recommend — like Succession and The Last of Us.
