Nothing launches Ear (2) earbuds with noise cancellation and hi-res sound

Carl Pei’s startup Nothing is back with a new pair of earbuds.

Nothing Ear (2), as they’re called, are a more powerful, more ambitious, and significantly pricier product than their predecessor, Nothing Ear (1). They’re a pretty obvious competitor to Apple’s AirPods Pro, and with a price point of $149 (one hundred bucks less than the AirPods Pro), they sound like an attractive alternative.

Like all Nothing products, the Nothing Ear (2) earbuds have a distinctive, semi-transparent look, though they aren’t that much different from Ear (1).

What is different is the set of features, which now includes a 11.6mm driver, active noise cancellation with a transparency mode, support for hi-res audio, 36 hours of playback time (this includes the additional battery life coming from the charging case), and IP54 water and dust resistance.

Most of the features, such as noise cancellation, equalizer, and sound profiles, can be adjusted through the accompanying app, which is available for both iOS and Android.

The Nothing Ear (2) earbuds can be ordered now, with an estimated shipping date of March 25.
