Quick hit: The Aztecs (28-6) were able to stave off feisty College of Charleston in Thursday’s first round, and now battled the tournament’s first darling, fellow South Carolinians Furman. San Diego State won the Mountain West regular-season title and tournament this season, and has a tough defense. The Paladins (28-7), who upset Virginia on Thursday, also were a double-winner of regular-season and tournament titles, this time in the Southern Conference.
