Apple’s iPhone X was the phone that pioneered slim, even bezels on all sides (save for the notch on top) back in 2017, but other phone makers have since caught up. Apple has been reducing the bezel width on its iPhones over time – sometimes almost imperceptibly – but according to a new rumor, the bezels are about to almost disappear on the iPhone 15 Pro.
Leaker Ice Universe (via MacRumors) claims that the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro Max, in particular, will have bezels that are just 1.55mm thick on all sides. That’s considerably thinner than the bezels on phones like the Xiaomi 13 Pro, Samsung’s Galaxy S23, and Apple’s own iPhone 14 Pro, which measure 1.81mm, 1.95mm, and 2.17mm, respectively.
We’re not exactly keeping track of thinnest bezels on a phone, but it does sound like the new iPhone will be one of the best phones when it comes to screen-to-body ratio. Note that only the iPhone 15 Pro models will get the super-thin bezel treatment; the regular iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will likely have slightly thicker bezels.
Apple’s new iPhones are likely to be announced in September. Previous rumors say the Pro models will have significantly upgraded cameras, new solid-state volume and power buttons, Apple’s new A17 chips, and (finally) USB-C instead of Apple’s proprietary Lightning port. The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will also get the USB-C port and the new buttons, as well as improved cameras, but they’ll likely be powered by Apple’s A16 chip.
